How did you spend Christmas?

As for me, we just mostly stayed at home with our relatives, ate and well, drank a little. We, er, I sang a little karaoke - mostly Michael Learns to Rock songs (they do guy songs and I'm a girl but don't ask why) - my cousins pretended like I'm damaging their eardrums. Yes, pretended - cause although I may not be a good singer, I do think I sing, ehem, quite well. :p Ok, enough of that.

And oh, we also did a Kris Kringle (did a Kris Kringle - does that sound right?) and I got a cute shirt. :)

How about you people? What did you do on Christmas? I really envy those who went out of town (or the country) as it's been a long time since I have been in a vacation trip. :) So, if you recently had one, do tell me where you went and how it was! And if you've just been to Australia, can you tell me if these perth hotels and hotels in brisbane really look as good as they do in pictures? :)

TV shows - gimme some suggestions!

I'm not much of a TV addict these days, but I still very much enjoy watching TV shows. Comedy, romance, suspense/thriller, it doesn't matter which as long as I get to like it. But please don't recommend Glee to me. I have nothing against the show. I've even seen a portion of it and liked it, but with all these constant ravings about it, I find myself not the least bit curious to find out what the fuss is all about. I know, I know. When had a show or a book's being overhyped stopped me before, right? By that, I meant Twilight and Gossip Girl. And lots of others that I can't remember right now. But I would have to wait for months before the new episode of Gossip Girl. And yes, I'm extremely glad that Chuck will again begin airing come January 10 (am I right?) but that's still so far away!

I've stumbled upon a new show, the Lost City Raiders, which is set in 2048 and in a world that's been majorly affected by global warming. Actually, it sounds kinda scary... but also very interesting. I might have to watch it just to see how the director envisioned such a scenario. [I really hope it's not as unrealistic as 2012]. Any other suggestions? :)

Of course, as you can see from my previous blog entry, I also watch I anime so I'm definitely looking for new and good anime shows! It's such a bummer that our cable provider doesn't have Animax. Hence, I'm missing out on great Animax anime shows like Gurren Lagann and a lot more! Or maybe we do have Animax but I just can't figure out on which channel it is? Hmm. Anyway, any other really good anime suggestions?

Anime Nostalgia(ish)

I know I’ve said before that I used to be addicted to watching anime shows before. What you didn’t know is that I used to collect stuff related to my fave anime shows too! By stuff, I mean anything and everything that has their pictures on it. I even found some playing cards from my anime stash [bought years ago, of course].

Yuyu Hakusho (also known as Ghost Fighter here in the Philippines) - one of my favorite anime shows of all time

I was so much of an anime junkie back then that I remember buying a Yuyu Hakusho manga (the pages were colored!) - written using Japanese characters! I know! You can call me crazy, I'll forgive you. LOL. That would have been fine if I had someone who could translate the comics for me. If I'd known about it, maybe I could have used an online service to do the translation for me. But as it was, I didn't have a handy translator back then so I had to content myself with looking at the pictures and trying to imagine what was going on with the story! I had a pretty good (and creative) imagination back then so I didn't really regret buying the manga all that much. :)

*Sigh* Those were the days. Now I'm too busy to have time to watch (and look out for) new episodes of anime. I think the last one I watched was the Vampire Knight series... any good recommendations? :)

Book Lovers and Book Stores

I am a book lover. And most of the time, when I step inside a bookstore, I come out of it with a new book. I don't know why or how, but whenever I'm in a bookstore, I just feel compelled to buy a book before I leave. I'm sure a lot of other book lovers can sympathize with me here. :)

That's all fine and well but it can get really bothersome when I'm trying to save money (what with Christmas fast approaching and all the gifts I need to buy) so I'm making this sort of to-do list for whenever I enter a bookstore (for the next few weeks or so, at least):

• If you really need to buy a book, just bring enough money for that book alone. That way, you avoid making impulsive purchases.
• Stay away from your greatest temptation (Eh?). I mean, if you love romance, it would be best if you can confine yourself to the mystery/thriller section. Or if you really can't resist it...
• Make sure that you only look at the titles. Make a list of the books that caught your interest, go home, mull it over and try to decide if you really do want to read those book(s).
• Or if you see a lot of books that you think you'd just LOVE and you really can't help but buy them right away for fear of not seeing them again when you go back the next time, just try to pick your favorite among the bunch. Or maybe your two favorites, at most. Haha.

Malware Detected! - Hopefully, not from this blog.

I've been seeing this warning from some of the blogs that I try to visit. I'm sure that if you're a constant blog hopper, you've seen it as well. Here's a screencap:

I don't know if it only shows up in you're using Google Chrome as your browser (like me). And I have no idea what causes the malware... maybe a certain widget or image? Hopefully, I don't have it on this blog. :)

But if you ever see this warning while trying to visit this blog, do inform me right away! Then again, how can you inform me without proceeding to the blog after seeing the malware warning?...

Check your blogs, guys 'n gals! You never know... :)

Things that make me go *Argh*

1. Trying to watch Gossip Girl (or any other show) via streaming while using our dorm's super slow internet connection. (I'm actually doing this right now. Haha.)

2. Going to a bookstore and finding out that the book I saw there the last time I was there is not there anymore!

3. Having a cold. I'm sure you know why. I feel bad. I look bad. My voice sounds bad! Btw, I'm taking Sinupret right now as it seems to work best. Still, any suggestions? Meds or homemade treatment or whatever? :)

4. Why Bookdepository dot com does not include Philippines in the list of countries that they ship to. Imagine, FREE shipping! Plus, online shopping is cheaper! Argh.

5. Finding out that my phone's battery is on its way to ballooning out due to overcharging. (Not that I'm surprised, as it's been with me for 3 years now.)
